Product Description

Solvent-Free, Two-Part Epoxy Waterproofing System for Concrete and Masonry

Biokil Crown Epoxy Tanking is a high-performance, two-component, solvent-free epoxy coating formulated to provide a durable, chemical- and water-resistant barrier to internal concrete and masonry surfaces. Suitable for tanking basements, retaining walls, inspection pits, and plant rooms, it cures to form a tough, impermeable membrane that resists both moisture ingress and negative hydrostatic pressure. It also serves as a protective coating in areas subject to high humidity or chemical exposure.

Special Features

  • Water & Vapour Barrier: Provides long-lasting protection against water ingress, damp, and vapour transmission.
  • Solvent-Free Formula: Low odour and safe for use in confined or sensitive environments.
  • Chemical Resistance: Resistant to a wide range of mild acids, alkalis, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Negative & Positive Pressure: Suitable for areas exposed to water pressure from either side of the structure.
  • Easy to Apply: Can be applied by roller, brush, or airless spray in two coats.

Specification

  • Type: Two-component solvent-free epoxy resin system
  • Components: Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener)
  • Colour: Grey (other colours available upon request)
  • Coverage: Approx. 3–4 m²/kg for two coats, depending on substrate porosity
  • Pot Life: Approx. 40 minutes at 20°C
  • Full Cure: 5–7 days
  • Health & Safety: Refer to the BPI Safety Data Sheet before use. Contains epoxy resins and hardeners — may cause allergic reactions or skin irritation. Always wear gloves, goggles, and respiratory protection.

Application

  1. Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be sound, clean, and free from dust, oil, or contaminants. Slightly damp substrates are acceptable.
  2. Mixing: Add Part B (hardener) to Part A (resin) and mix thoroughly with a slow-speed drill and paddle mixer.
  3. First Coat: Apply evenly using a brush or roller. Allow to cure for 12–18 hours depending on conditions.
  4. Second Coat: Apply perpendicular to the first. Ensure full coverage and membrane thickness.
  5. Protection: Avoid water exposure during curing. Can be overlaid with screeds, renders, or tile finishes.

Limitations

  • Do not apply at temperatures below +5°C or in damp, unventilated conditions during curing.
  • Not suitable for external UV-exposed surfaces unless overcoated with a protective finish.
